HC41T#56 is the last Hans Christian 41 Traditional. She was manufactured to a significantly completed level in Thailand and then shipped to the U.S. for final construction and commissioning. As such, she is new, but unfinished and needs someone willing and able to take this worthy project to completion.

The hull, deck and all major structural components were constructed by Pantawee Marine Co. Ltd dba Hans Christian Yachts. The hull and deck (with numerous integral backing plates) were laid up and permanently joined in 2014. The rudder, bearings, shaft and radial drive were also constructed and installed in 2014. The remaining structural components were manufactured and installed in 2015, including the chain plates, mast step, base plate, compression post and related fittings, copper ground strip, bobstay, and five integral tanks.

Before she was shipped to the U.S. in late 2015, Hans Christian installed the cabin sole, all structural bulkheads in their standard locations, the coaming and the pullman berth structure. Several additional structural components such as the gammons band, stern fitting and mainsheet traveler arch were manufactured and dry fitted. The bow pulpit, stern pulpit and an extensive list of custom brass and stainless components were manufactured by Hans Christian and shipped loose with the vessel:

Construction

The hull and deck are hand laid up in accordance with approved laminates and procedures. The standard hull and deck color is off white (ref. LR #8981).In the hull a combination of woven roving and chopped strand mat are used with thickness increasing towards the keel. There is a reinforcing balsa core in the topsides which stops at six inches above the waterline. Vinylester resin is used for the initial layers below the waterline. The ballast keel is encapsulated entirely within the hull molding. The deck molding has a PVC foam and/or balsa core which is replaced with plywood in high stress areas where fittings are attached. A two part epoxy barrier coat paint is applied below the boot-top for extra anti-osmosis protection.

Rudder

The rudder is molded GRP with a stainless steel stock, the base of which locates onto the bottom rudder skeg. The heel fitting is a cast bronze item. The rudder post is machined to accept cable steering fittings as standard.
