2004 Island Packet 485
The team at Flagstaff Marine Port Stephens are pleased to bring this lovely Island Packet 485 blue water cruising yacht to the market.
Designed and built for sailors who appreciate safety and build quality, this Island Packet 485 is a superb example of a centre cockpit, aft cabin, genuine cruiser. Everywhere you look you'll see quality and thought for serious passage making and luxurious life on the water.
CE Certified and built for Category A, Ocean sailing, and with a encapsulated Lead (7.2t) Full Length (Full Foil) keel an owner, friends and family can feel safe when cruising up the coast or crossing oceans.
Board the vessel on the large, simple swim platform and make your way up stairs on either side to an expansive, flat aft deck with access to a huge storage lazarette below. Moving forward enjoy high guard rails with sturdy stainless steel stanchions and plenty of stainless steel mooring cleats and hand rails. At the bow you'll find a huge anchor locker Muir windlass that was fitted in December 2022 and 33kg Rocna with 100m of 10mm chain. The central cockpit is protected by a bimini and dodger with all around protection. The covers were replaced in 2023. The centre cockpit is a great place to relax under shade at anchor and is the safest place to be when under sail. All lines lead back here and the electric primary winches make short handed sailing easy.
For short handed sailing the furling mast is the perfect choice. Furl out the large overlapping genoa when you want power in light airs or use the self tacking jib when the breeze is up or you don't want the hassle of pulling ropes when you tack or gybe. There is a cruising spinnaker to enjoy when coasting downwind and a storm sail should things get interesting in very high winds.
Down below is a genuine cruisers delight with high quality timber joinery, a very large aft owners cabin with offset island bed, ensuite, plenty of storage, ventilation and light through various opening hatches. Move forward and you'll enter the two sided, inline galley with twin stainless steel sinks, twin top opening fridges, 3 burner gas stove and oven. There is an abundance of storage and bench space in this area. The spacious central saloon has settees to prt and starboard with a removable coffee table to port. When you want to entertain pull out the drop down, fold out saloon table which expands to the full width of the saloon. Fold it away when you don't need it and enjoy the expansive saloon area. There is a dedicated nav table to port with lovely, spinning leather chair, fuse board, and instruments so you can plan your voyage.
Forward of the saloon there is a bunk/storage/office cabin to starboard. The head to port can be accessed as a day head or as a second ensuite connected to the VIP cabin forward with full island double. Once again, there is plenty of light, ventilation and storage.
Faraway is equipped with many extras to ensure time on board a pleasure such as a Fischer Panda 6.8 KVA generator, inverter, lithium house battery bank, cabin fans, flat screen TV in saloon, stereo with speakers, electric heads, Spectra watermaker, Raymarine instrumentation, safety gear, dinghy with outboard, BBQ and more.
if you're looking for a top quality, blue water cruising yacht that is easy to sail short handed then Faraway is a brilliant option.
