1984 Catalina 30 Tall Rig
The Catalina 30 Tall Rig, Deep keel (5’3” MOONDANCE is not your average Catalina 30. The Catalina 30 design is well Known and well venerated over the past 5 decades. It remains one of the most successful yacht designs EVER for many reasons. It is a well made, voluminous 30 ft sailboat that is just as suitable for exploring as it is for extended cruising. Simple in design, layout , and appointments, the Catalina 30 checks a lot of boxes for a lot of sailors.
The Catalina 30 Tall Rig is a version of the standard design that addressed the needs of the sailor desiring a more competitive boat. The mast is 2 ft. higher, the boom is longer and the mainsail is larger. The tall rig is faster, higher pointing and more responsive than the standard rig. The deeper keel is added stability, better tracking, and higher pointing.
